The Dacia Duster is the Romanian automaker's first SUV. This model was first unveiled in production form on December 8, 2009. The parent company, Renault wanted for this SUV to be an affordable and clever choice for the small SUV segment. Based on the B0 platform like the successful Dacia Logan, the Duster will ride higher with a ground clearance of over 200 mm (7.9 inches) and take advantage of 4x2 or 4x4 drive systems. Engine-wise the car will be fitted with a 1.6l petrol unit developing 110 hp and a 1.5l diesel one with 85 and 105 hp respectively. The car will be ma
rketed under the Renault brand in some parts of the world, but its consumer target will be the same, meaning entry level affordable small SUV.
- Dacia will continue to redefine the automotive landscape at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the launch of its sixth model: Duster, a compact off-roader.
- Duster is a particularly affordable vehicle with low running c
osts:
- To buy: Duster will go on sale in Europe at tax-paid prices starting from €11,900 for the two-wheel drive version, and from €13,900 for the 4×4 version. It offers an unbeatable performance, equipment and interior space package for its price.
- To run: the Duster range features a choice of frugal engines which combine low fuel consumption with low maintenance costs.
- Duster is respectful of the environment thanks to its low CO2 emissions. The diesel versions emit from 135g of CO2/km in two-wheel drive form (making them eligible for the Dacia eco² signature) and from 145g of CO2/km for the 4×4 version.
- Duster is a tough, reliable and easy-to-use 4×4, aimed at motorists seeking an everyday car with genuine off-road ability.
- Duster is manufactured at the Pitesti factory in Romania. The 4×2 and 4×4 versions will be rolled out progressively from the end of March 2010 in Europe, Turkey, Africa and the Middle East.
- Duster is a vehicle with international ambitions, both in terms of its markets and its production. It will be launched progressively in different global markets, badged either as a Renault or a Dacia, in the same way as Logan and Sandero.
- With Duster, Dacia demonstrates that it is possible to produce an all-terrain vehicle that is not only functional and affordable, but also respectful of the environment. With Duster, the Dacia brand – which pioneered a fresh approach to motoring with the launch of Logan in 2004 – has once again demonstrated its ability to think outside the box.
