The Audi A3 Concept
Audi shocked the motoring world when it unveiled the Audi A3 Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
The quattro all-wheel-drive concept was powered by Audi’s 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 403bhp and 368 lb ft of torque.
Linked to a seven-speed S-tronic auto gearbox it was capable of 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds before reaching the electronic limited at 155mph.
However, the production version of the Audi A3, which is expected to debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, is likely to be rather different.
Four Body Styles
German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport has reported that the 2012 Audi A3 will feature four body styles divided into two groups.
The three door hatch and cabriolet will be 4.26m long, while the new four-door saloon (previewed as the A3 e-tron concept) and five-door Sportback coupe will grow to 4.44m long. All variants will be the same width.
Audi head of design Stefan Sielaff explained that the new A3 range will be set up similar to the A4 and A5 ranges with multiple body shapes.
The Interior
Stefan Sielaff also revealed that the 2012 Audi A3′s interior will be based on the A3 e-tron concept introduced at Auto Shanghai earlier this year.
